Overview

The golf card generator is a specialized tool designed to automate the creation of visuals for golf tournaments. This system allows for the generation of scorecards, player matchups, and leaderboard graphics using predefined assets such as backgrounds, tournament logos, and templates—eliminating the need for manual work in Photoshop and significantly optimizing the production workflow.
Each card adapts visually depending on the tournament format (stroke play, match play, or leaderboard), ensuring a consistent design and drastically reducing production time. The result is professional, editable, and ready to be shared across TV broadcasts, digital platforms, and social media channels.

Wireframing and Prototyping: The project began with sketches and conceptual layouts for different golf scenarios (player vs. player, live leaderboard, hole-by-hole scorecards). Then, I built prototypes using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to test transitions, animations, and responsive interactions. Everything was designed to be visually appealing, highly legible, and functional across both desktop and mobile devices.

Challenges

Designing golf scorecards and leaderboards comes with unique challenges, from technical constraints to user experience considerations. Here are some of the key aspects addressed during the project:

Data Accuracy & Live Updates:
  • Challenge: Golf tournaments generate live scoring data that must be updated quickly and accurately.
  • Solution: Integrate automated data feeds and dynamic templates to ensure real-time updates without manual intervention.
Responsive & Readable Design:
  • Challenge: Scorecards and leaderboards must remain clear and easy to read across devices and screen sizes.
  • Solution: Apply responsive design principles, flexible grids, and optimized typography for clarity and accessibility.
Visual Consistency:
  • Challenge: Each tournament may have different branding, sponsors, and formats.
  • Solution: Build modular templates that adapt to logos, colors, and assets while maintaining a consistent aesthetic.
User Experience & Broadcasting:
  • Challenge: Graphics must enhance the storytelling for audiences and be compatible with broadcast standards.
  • Solution: Focus on clean layouts, highlight key moments (birdies, eagles, hole-in-ones), and ensure smooth integration with broadcast systems.
